Yes — a converted vehicle needs its registration updated to reflect the new powertrain type. We handle the paperwork with your RTO as part of the installation package. The process is straightforward for commercial vehicles; we've done it across multiple states and know what each RTO requires.
Your current policy needs to be endorsed to cover the new powertrain — a standard procedure once the RC is updated. Most commercial insurers in India do this without issuing a new policy. We provide you with the conversion certificate your insurer needs.
LFP batteries in our kits are designed for 2,000+ charge cycles — roughly 8–10 years at typical daily use. When a battery reaches end-of-life, it's a straight swap at any partner workshop using the same standard module. Because the kits are modular, you're not replacing the motor or controller, just the battery pack.
We support most petrol and diesel commercial vehicles manufactured after 2005, including Bajaj, Piaggio, and TVS three-wheelers; Mahindra, Tata, and Force vans; and several cargo truck platforms. Any Retrofit Roads certified partner workshop in our network. Because the kits are standardized, a mechanic in Coimbatore who trained on our kit can service a vehicle originally installed in Pune. Scheduled servicing is minor — mainly software health checks and battery terminal inspection. Annual service costs are significantly lower than petrol engine maintenance.
We're working with NBFC partners to offer EMI options specifically for commercial vehicle conversions. Mention it in your estimate request and we'll include financing options in our response. Several state governments also offer EV conversion subsidies under FAME and state EV policies — we'll flag any schemes your vehicle qualifies for.
